Teacher Externships
Participating Teacher “Extern” Criteria:
High School Agriculture Teacher
Teaches at least one agriscience course
Teaching in 2024-2025 school year
Open to “P2” or “Final” Student Teachers. Must have signed an employment contract by May 31.
Externship Requirements/Details:
Submit interest form by February 16, 2024
Attend one of two virtual meetings in mid-spring before June 1, 2024.
Complete the following by August 31, 2024:
Complete 40 hours externship beginning June 1 with partnered company with agreed upon schedule
Submit one page written reflection of experience
Submit one 5E lesson plan based on knowledge or skill learned at externship
Aligned with ANR and NGSS standards
Include all supplemental materials
Goals

A 40 hour externship with an agricultural company or government agency focused on incorporating current agriscience phenomena in the classroom and expanding teacher awareness of the ag industry.

Instructional lesson plans that fit within three ag science courses:
Biology & Sustainable Agriculture
Chemistry & Agriculture
Advanced Interdisciplinary Science for Sustainable Agriculture

Teachers will partner with agricultural leaders throughout the state to discover valued industry practices to be best implemented in their own instruction.

$1,000 teacher stipends
$200 company honorariums
